Homemade Taco Seasoning Mix

A recipe for homemade taco seasoning mix. Use as needed. use 1 to 2 heaping tablespoons per one pound of ground meat.

Ingredients

  • ¼ cup onion powder
  • cup garlic powder
  • ½ cup cumin
  • cup sweet Spanish paprika not smoked paprika
  • 1 tablespoon chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt optional
  • 1 teaspoon black ground pepper
  • ½ teaspoon sugar optional

Instructions

  • Add all spices to a mixing bowl.
  • Whisk until evenly blended.
  • Use 1-2 tablespoons per one pound of meat, with ¼ cup of water and simmer for 5-10 minutes until thickened.

Notes

Sprinkle one to two tablespoons over cooked meat or other protein, and ¼ cup water. Stir, and simmer for 5-10 minutes until thickened. 
Store remaining taco seasoning in an air tight container at room temperature for up to six months.
